If you do not see the rat that you are looking for then please email me. It may be that I have a new litter not yet listed or have a litter pending so please do ask. As a rough guide the breeds I specialise in are as follows - rex (curly coated) not many available throughout the year rex wise, cinnamon, agouti, berkshire (including blazed), cinnamon pearl, ivory/cream, other colours are available from time to time depending upon current matings. Please note I DO NOT breed hairless, Tailess or dumbo rats, we mainly breed old varieties.

Conditions of sale
Darkstar rat kittens make excellent pets as they come from an established stud, in almost all cases they have lines which can be traced back generations and are supplied by a breeder with 19 years experience.
To ensure the continued wellbeing of the rat I do screen everyone who approaches me so please read the following. If you can honestly agree and comply to these points then please do not hesitate to contact me.Our rats live in a family environment and we only now keep a small select number.

Please note I am not a petstore, petting zoo or commercial breeder. So guided tours, coach parties and the like are out. As a busy working Mum with a family I am more then happy for people to collect rats from us or at shows. This is for people choosing their pet or collecting their booked rat kittens. We sadly do not have time for people booking and cancelling rats or wanting a day trip out and taking a 4 hour detour. Yes we have had this in the past! Coaches don't try it you'll never turn round! Our animals are not bred for profit and have nearly bankrupted us on several occasions lol! Feeds, bedding and time outweighs anything we ask for our kittens. They cost far more to care for then a commercial set up in hammocks alone some weeks. Fancy Rats are my hobby and not a business. We ask that we are not treated as a business or Pet store. Also that we are a family home. Sorry to sound rude but there has been a spate of people timewasting online recently with many NFRS breeders.

1 Darkstar rats only go to responsible homes. Rats do not go to a home where they will live on their own as rats are social animals and should therefore be kept in pairs or small groups. We prefer rat kittens to go to loving pet homes. We do not supply commercial business / reptile food.

2 Please ensure that before looking at rats as pets that you can give the animals a good home for the duration of their lifespan (2-2.5 years average) and pay for vets’ bills if needed and have a holiday sitter.

If you have skin/ pet allergies or Asthma please think before getting rats. If severe then maybe a pet rat is not for you. Please also ensure that you can provide a good large cage for them. Also that you are allowed to keep pets at your abode! If you are not certain of this please do not apply. We have the right to refuse people without giving a reason. Please do not take offence it is just that we feel responsible for our rat kittens and want a good life for them! So they are not abandoned, come back 2 weeks later as you have changed your mind or dumped in a rescue centre - its not good for the rats.

3 I do not supply rats to individuals under the age of 18 WITHOUT adult parental consent. I am more than happy to talk to you and help you out BUT I must speak to a parent or guardian if you wish to reserve a rat and they must also be present when you collect them.

4 Our rats are special to us and deserve loving homes so please do not block book rats with other breeders and take whatever comes first or book and cancel rats on a whim. Or pop down your local petstore as you can't wait. Likewise family time is precious and if you are just wanting to come and have a look along with the other 10 breeders you have emailed I sadly do not have time nor do my rat kittens. Fancy rats are animals and not online shopping or browsing, we believe if you are responsible you will wait and animals should not be impulse buys. Most of us breeders are friends and we have little black books so we know who the bad guys are.

In return I will endeavour to provide you with happy and friendly pets which have been handled from day one and come from a family home so are used to the noise of children and other animals. I am also happy to offer you all the continued support you need by either phone or email, though at times you will have to bare with me as I do have to bring up a human family and do work strange hours (email contact is best).
Prior to leaving, all rats are treated with Ivermectin so they are free from any potential skin problems and given a health check with you before they leave. I will then also discuss with you rat care, diet etc and also address any questions or concerns that you may have.

We can't be that bad as we have families come back every few years!
